ReadThe churches of Lviv are cathedrals, churches and monasteries of different denominations that have shaped the city for centuries. Here we cover the history of each one, its architecture, what to look for inside and how to visit an active place of worship.
For example, the Dominican Cathedral impresses with its Baroque dome in the very heart of the Old Town, while the Garrison Church has kept the frescoes and underground of the former Jesuit church. New churches are added to this section over time.
Most of these churches are active, so dress modestly and do not disturb services. A walk around the churches is easy to combine with routes from our Lviv architecture section.
